Pico (Picosecond) Laser Technology

Our clinic uses picosecond (Pico) laser technology for tattoo removal. A picosecond is one trillionth of a second; when laser energy is delivered in pulses this short, it acts on the pigment through a photoacoustic (pressure) effect rather than heat.

• Finer fragmentation: Pigment breaks into smaller particles, so the immune system clears them more easily
• Less heat to surrounding tissue: Limited thermal spread helps reduce the risk of scarring and pigment change
• Better on stubborn colours: Can be more effective on blue, green and light tones that respond poorly to older lasers
• Potentially fewer sessions: The same tattoo usually needs fewer treatments than with nanosecond systems

Treatment Process

Several sessions are needed, spaced weeks apart. The number depends on the age of the tattoo, the type and depth of the ink, the area treated and your skin type — the plan is set after examination.
